Well I am about to take my truck for a test drive for the first time with the new rear differential installed. What I have noticed thus far is that when I turn to the left or right there is a 'nocking' sound. Everyone that I have asked said that this is normal and should be like that.
My question - I want to jack the rear up before I take it out on the road and just make sure things are ok. Anybody got some checks that I should do before hand? If I spin the one wheel shoud the other spin in a opposite direction, like a standard diff? Please any comments will be appreciated...
I have a 1970 EB that recently developed a very serious knocking/jerking, primarily when turning corners. It first occurred during a serious hill and rock run. I've drained the rear, put new lube and friction modifer in, but it still persists. I've pulled the third member (I needed to replace the wheel bearings anyways) and don't see any thing wrong (without pulling the diff apart). Ring and pinion are perfect. The side gears and shaft gears seem okay, but can't really tell.
