where can i get a high flow y-pipe for my bronco? or would i be better off with a dual exhaust? i have removed my whole exhaust to get ready for my new header and exhaust system! i am leaning toward the y-pipe though. where can i get one?
Flowmaster 3" single is good.
Or catback 3"single.
Might be more companys but I cant remember them right now.
Personally I have the original dealer installed duels and I cut off the tailpipes to right behind the t-case, then added 2 cheery bomb glasspacks, with 45 downs and out at an angle, I love the sound of duels.
Alot of guys here have had good success/results with the Basanni
System sold here.http://www.proficientperformance.com/
My header,'y' pipe,hi-flow cat is on back order.
the off-road one is a no cat version the regular Equalizer pipes have the cat. Cost more for the cat version but its less work and I really am impressed with mine...I am gonna get the headers from Bassani eventually.
would the Y pipe have the cats in the factory location? Does it come with cats or use your existing ones? The reason I asked is that I am having my cats hollowed out and was wondering how that would work with a new Y pipe.
Wakeboarder, are you talking about the Bassani Y pipe? It does not have the stock location. It takes the two cat setup and reduces it to one. On my 96, the single cat is actually tucked up underneath the transfer case skid plate. Thats alot better than stock (just out in the open with a crappy little rock shield attatched to it).
Steve,
Have you called Bassani directly to see why exactly its on backorder? All of these manufacturers are pretty much just pipe bending shops that bring in other components (catalytic covertors, etc). Calling them directly might expedite the process (for all we know, there could be a problem with the paperwork on PP's end or something like that).
Rich,
Actually it's just the headers that are being held up,'y'pipe and cat are in stock.I want to get the whole system in one shot. But yeah,I'll try Bassani direct on Monday.
I looked at my factory Y pipe today and noticed there is some sort of sensor in a little crossover pipe that goes between the two sides of the Y. What is this sensor? If I remove everything from the manifold back for a day while I get my cats cut out am I going to have problems with engine codes or the way she runs?
Its for your O2 sensor. It will be loud as $%^&! and you will most likely generate a code or two because the O2 sensor won't be sending info to the computer. It will eventually affect performance as the O2 sensor helps the computer deterime air-to-fuel ratios on the intake side of the cycle. A day may not be too bad for it but I wouldn't do it for long at all. Some may argue that they have removed the O2 sensor without problems but it DOES send info to the computer that affects performance and driveability.
Out of curiosity, why cut out the cat(s)? Removal of a functioning catalytic converter on a vehicle originally equipped with one, is techinically a federal offense unless the vehicle is going to be restricted to off-highway or race use only. Not sure who checks up on that kind of thing but I know thats the deal. A good high flow cat will keep you legal and let your Flowmaster stuff breathe like it should.

Thanks for the infor Greystreak. Will a muffler shop install the No cat version of the Bassani Y pipe if I still have the cat that is close to my muffler or is it not legal for them to put those on without having two cats?
The main reason I want to do it is for sound. I have heard Broncos with my muffler with the cats removed and they have a ton more of that "Flowmaster tone" that I love. If a high flow cat would be as loud I would be all for it.
