Mustangsteve.com offers a ball bearing clutch pedal conversion kit for $65 that they claim will restore the clutch/brake pedal assembly no matter how badly worn. The kit is made for mustangs but also works on pickups. I have a '65 F250. They can send the kit with instructions or you can send in your assembly and have them do it (for $150). Some welding is required.
Anyone use the ball bearing clutch pedal conversion kit? Has anyone sent their assembly in for rebuild? How did it turn out?
Any other options for restoring a worn pedal assembly?
What exactly is wrong with your pedal. There are nylon bushings in there that are easily replaceable. But if those crimped in aluminum bushings are loose in the mount itself they will need replaced. I made a couple of steel bushings and tack welded them in to replace those floppy loose aluminum ones that were in mine. Cost a few bucks for the new nylon bushings at NAPA.
I need to add that the nylon bushings can be replaced without removing the mount, but probably not the aluminum ones.
The nylon bushings (2474 in pic) that the clutch and brake pedals ride on are available from Ford, they are very cheap and are the same as Mustang and etc.
The bracket under the dash (01508) that the pedals suspend from...has bushings that cannot be replaced. The shaft of the clutch pedal (7519) fits thru these bushings.
The brake pedal (2455) rides on the shaft of the clutch pedal.

This is my problem area. The kit replaces (and theoretically improves) this area. I just ran across a posting by "Ultraranger" where he uses the kit to rebuild his pedal assembly support bracket. His skills are noticeably above my own.
Realized I never followed up on this thread. I got the kit from Mustang Steve and it works great. Used it for 2 years now and very glad I did it. The original bearing holders are kind of like pot metal and one of mine was cracked allowing the pedals to slop side to side. Those are replaced by the steel retainers in the Mustang Steve kit along with sealed ball bearings.
A guy could put together the same kit himself but the Mustang Steve kit has all you need.
That's a pretty slick modification. Thanks for following up. I never would have seen it otherwise. I think I'll do that while my pedal assembly is out too!
