Lessons...

I'm nearly 68. Been around cars all my life. Always considered myself a fair wrench, even if i did grow up with a Father, an older brother, and later in life, a favorite brother-in-law that made me feel pretty inadequate (it's a long story )
Anyway, I've got to say that my old '53 has taught me more than I could have ever thought. Little things that I've forgotten, or never knew keep popping up... like ... an Automotive stud has coarse thread on one end and fine on the other ....WHAT?? Well not all of them ... And mostly... things that you don't think you need to document when they are coming apart,
are extremely difficult to put back together....
Here's "Henry" today... slow but "relatively" sure... It's about the journey ...right??

Looking good, Bob.

Yes, it is the journey. But when it is finally done, there will be many more different journeys.

Hey Bob,
You're getting there! Keep up the momentum...
I do like your personalized clock. That Temperature gauge is not something
we put up here in Texas. My garage faces west - It can clear 110 in there easy all summer.
Uggg…

Our decision making changed as we approached the end of year 2...
Just get it running & driving... Nice to have is out the window...
Our truck has 30K miles on it - just spray on bedliner interior, hand crank windows,
no headliner, leaky cowl, speedometer is off a bit, etc. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Yup, it is about the journey.
I see the LMC Truck boxes in the corner. I'd flatten them and use those as ground protection for when I'm on my back laying on the driveway (ants) or garage floor (metal filings and general dirt).
They also come in handy for storing new parts inside so that you forget them and then buy another one six months later next time you place an order.
Does anyone need a new shift boot, headlight gaskets, bed shims, or fender apron bumpers? I seem to have extra for some reason.

Tom

Looks like his floor is carpeted!

Looks like you didn't follow your own advice and ordered some things twice!

Bob, it looks like you're doing everything right. Keep plugging away, it's the baby steps that add up. Good to see that you also have the Keurig handy too. Wish my shop was that clean.

My "shop" is actually my airport hangar. Looks spacious but "Henry" shares space with a 1954 Piper. I have to push the airplane out when I work on the truck and push it back in after I'm done. It's a pain in January here in Michigan...
My wife actually bought me the hangar. She saved out of her household budget for 15+ years and gave it to me as a retirement present from her and my boys. It was a Pole Barn shell but we, with help of good friends, finished the interior, added windows and heat. Downside... it's 15 miles from home and I had to give-up my garage at home TO HER!!

What a great woman! But sounds like she had ulterior movies.

You should fly your Piper back to its birthplace for the Sentimental Journey Fly In in Lock Haven at the Piper Memorial Airport. It is either the 2nd or 3rd week in June. I can get you more details later. Or you can google it.

Here is a pic from last year. I stopped by and parked by a J3

Another vintage truck in a vintage period correct scene. Your pic is even black and white, but I'm assuming the sky is blue.

Abe, Sentimental Journey is a staple in my aviation community. Been there twice, in two different Cubs. They have been a bit "Dark Side".. at a purist reunion, if you know what I mean.. Here's a pic of the '54 and my "SHOP"... thanks to an understanding Wife!!
