here starts something.

i have an 86 f150 4x4 with a 302/aod combination. well that old aod (190,850) is gettign pretty tired. i have a c6 that i want to rebuild and put in place of the hunk of **** that calls itself a transmission. my question to all of the experienced and knowledgable!
how dificult is it? what do i need to change as far as cross member, shift linkage, kickdown, and anything else that you can think of.
thanks for all teh help io knwo your gonna give me.

Hi,

I'm not sure wether the C6 will fit onto a 302. If yes, it might be nessesary to install a other driveshaft 'cause I think that the C6 is longer as the AOD.

you will have to get a c6 for a 4x4, tailshaft is a different length. did this swap a few years ago. had to get the t case adaptor and the t case shift rod. other than that it was a straightforward swap. drive shafts are the same, crossmember fit in the origional position also. make sure the tranny or tailshaft you get is for the warner t case, not the new process.

I would rebuild or replace the aod. The C6 is not an overdrive transmission, and your truck is already geared for overdrive, you'll be very disappointed in the milage.
