What are my options for replacing a bed floor that is rusted out at the front? The rest of the bed is really nice (no dents). I was wondering if there is a place that sells replacement panels for our trucks.
thanks
I've not seen any replacement panels made that match the bed floor exactly.
What I've suggested is finding a donor bed somewhere and cutting out an unrusted section a few feet further back. This will match the fluted contour of the bed exactly. It is a tricky process welding in a patch and hiding the fact you did it. Depending on how perfect you want it, you could just crimp one of the panels and do a lap joint and seam seal it.
I have that same problem...
I have a bed w/ a good floor/bad sides, and a bed w/ good sides/bad floor
Im just going to cut out the center part of the floor, and weld in a sheet of thinwall plate...
And use the bed w/ bad sides for a trailer.
If your not worrieda bout looking original, thats what I'd suggest.
Easier to do, and a lot less frustrating
Scrap the stock bed floor by cutting it out and go buy a sheet of aluminum diamond plate. I posted on a thread about a buddy who lowered his '72 by flipping the rear-end to the top of his leaf springs - same guy had the rust in the bed floor, so he cut it out and placed a sheet of aluminum diamond plate in it and did a roll-in bed liner kit from Eastwood coatings. You want to talk about cool looking...........

Brett, how bad is it? How far up and back does it go. I had to make a repair panel for mine and it's pretty easy (if it's not too bad) I have the dimensions and a drawing. If you need it drop me line. Glad to help. Phil
