Ty. I looked it up. Only $28 so I'll get one. I did try one from a 79 and had same trouble. What could be causing it? I noticed that the part getting hot is the ceramic dimmer wheel
See applications, 1978/79 F100/350, Bronco & Econoline is the same.
Hacked wiring - if a new switch did that also. It’s quite possibly all the way at the back, i believe the light switch grounds out the circuit in the off position, so it could be backfeeding a ground through the light switch. If it’s like any service body install I’ve seen, figure on it needing a re-wire and cut the factory wiring off at the splice to the body and see if it goes back to normal.
Driver headlight was really dim....installed new plug and ran ground d straight to core support. Now its brighter the passenger side lol.
I discovered that my lighting problem is only with key on. When key is in acc or on position the running lights all come on. But not headlights. Also the indicators and dash lights are not working.
Another quickie is to unplug the blinker switch Assembly., it’s a half-round plug at the base of the steering column. When they start to self destruct, all sorts of strange things happen -

Ok now wtf..... so I ran my radio to the factory splice block...yellow with 3 holes. Worked fine.
Still had light trouble though. So I found a spliced wire on ignition marked what looked like il. I cut that wire. Now lights work except for blinkers. No dash light still. But park light dont come on until I turn them on. Then I found that radio dosent work until I turn lights on. Wtf.
Anybody have wiring diagram for ignition switch....I can only find 1 for a regular switch not for mine.
Back to your original question. Expedition seats will not fit. Unless you like to sit with your chest against the steering wheel. Also, 04-08 F150 seats will not fit. I tried both when I first got my dentside. I just reupholstered my bench and happy I did that.

I ended up just swapping in a bench from a 90 f250. Way better
Rewire the headlights through a relay. These headlight switches are known to overheat because they have full voltage running through them. The relay takes the load off the switch.
