FRONT BRAKES
Removing the calipers is easy. the tools you will need are step A) Big Pliers and a punch and hammer. Step B) A block of wood, or compressed air.
Step A) You will see two long steel, usually chromed squarish pin going crosswise across the bottom of the caliper and the top. These pins sit in a groove cut into the caliper and the caliper slide. You will need to compress the pin with the big pliers(A buddy is handy here) and either punch out the pin our try to get a flat pucnh under the small ear on either end of the pin to pull it far enough out to get a good hold on it. The pin can be driven in towards the truck our out from the truck, whichever works for you. It needs to be driven far enough to get past the small ear which is on both ends and both sides of the pin and which is what really "Locks" the pin in place. Once the pin is driven past the ear you can wiggle the caliper a dn punch the pin some more until it is completely out. Once one pinis out, the other one is easy since there should be some slack in the caliper assembly.
Step B)To get the piston out of the caliper, you can either use a block of wood between the pads to prevent it from going too far and then push the brakes till the caliper pop out. May be messy so have a drip pan handy. Or use compressed air to push the pistons out by filling thru the brakeline fitting, also can be messy. If you don't under stand this part ask. Note that the pistons are probably bakelite(plastic) so they can be damaged, cost about $20 each and there are 4 so don't damage them.
When you finish, be sure lubricate the sliding surfaces and the pins in the caliper assembly to allow smooth and even operation.
Good Luck.
