My 1988 Super Duty 7.3 diesel wants to wander a little back and forth on the highway. I've put a new steering box in, new steering shaft assembly, had the tie rods checked and it still wants to wander. very annoying. Does anyone know if the spring bushings would cause this problem? If so do I have to remove the springs to put them in? Thanks bill
yes the spring bushings could cause this, and yes you need to remove the springs to press new bushings in.
also look at the shackle bushings inside the frame, they always get overlooked because they are not seen so are forgotten about.
You can measure with toe plates and 2 tape measures- you probably want 3/16" to 1/4"
toe in for stability.
Make sure to check after driving forward at least 10'- these trucks do odd things when you back up...

if it is a F-SuperDuty as he said, it has a solid front axle in it. so driving forward after reversing will not do anything...............unless the kingpins are shot.
