Just talking to my mechanic about DEF yesterday.
He uses boxes instead of a barrel. He does not want to be one to have crystals form in a barrel and introduce them into a customers truck.

I buy the Ford Motorcraft 2.5 gallon direct from a Ford Dealer for $12.67. . I also use the Ford MC spout. Always keep the receipts. I document all the DEF I buy is from Ford and the price is close enough for me.
I noticed I paid the same price for the 2.5 gallon Ford Motorcraft DEF from my home dealer in Orlando and a Ford Dealer on Richmond Highway in Alexandria, Va.

I'm on my fourth or fifth jug of Wal-mart brand DEF. None of them have leaked. I think I'm paying a bit less than $8 per jug.

I was down about 1/3 level and I bought two 2.5 gallon jugs of DEF. Those two filled up the DEF tank( threw away a just a few ounces), but I liked the fact I could use the Ford spout twice and only need to clean it once and pretty much made the DEF filling process a longer time before the next fill.

Reading all these posts makes me miss my 2005 Dodge Cummins even more ... lol ... JK. Owned it for 14.5 years and recently sold it to my son in law (w/ 60K miles). No DEF, no Forscan... etc.

I now have purchased brand new 2019 Ford 6.7 F350 SD, Lariat Ultimate Package.

This has been a good thread to read. I'm at 1,000 miles (got there so I can tow my 5th wheel). My DEF is still reading 3/4, roughly.

Since I'm new to this DEF stuff, is this DEF fluid some nasty stuff? Can you simply put it in the tank with a good funnel?

Good read everyone.

You can with a funnel and a mess. Use the spout and do it the right way.

If you spill it on the paint, wash it off. Wont hurt much.

Most DEF jugs come with a spout. Like Scott suggested, use it.
