I haven't looked into it, but surely someone makes some kick panels to avoid cutting the door panels up.

Coastal68 you need to go to you-tube and type in AutoRestoMod Car Restoration Modification. click on where it says videos. and look on the top row of videos. it,s the last video on the right. the title is Manic Mechanic episode #41. they are installing a new audio system and they are putting in speakers in the kick panels in waterproof boxes. the truck is a 72 Ford F-100. so the install in the older trucks should be close if not the same. i believe the name of the people making the boxes is called Extreme Audio.maybe this will help you.

when I get ready to do mine I’ll be sending my head unit to this guy. I’ve had some email contact with him but never have seen his product. Seems legit.
