So my 2017 F350 CCLB Platinum with snow plow prep has the 3" hitch receiver. So which adjustable height hitches is everyone using? How much drop is everyone going with for a truck a stock height. Since these 3" hitches are in excess of $300 I would like to get it right the first time.
2017 F250 KR w/ 6.2L, 2-1/2" receiver, and a reducer sleeve to 2". I use model 3298 w/ 8" drop and 2" shank. The 14K capacity well exceeds my truck's tow ratings (12.5K) and my 7x14 enclosed trailer's 7K GVWR. Andersen also has 16K EZ HD models with 3" and 2-1/2" shanks for the bigger boys....
I use a weigh-safe 180 hitch, with 6” drop, which I don’t use all of - I’m up two notches from the bottom, and this gives me a perfectly level dump trailer, with both trailer and truck empty. My truck is all stock.
I have an '18 F-350 with the 2-1/2" receiver. I had a B&W Tow & Stow with a 7" drop but really didn't need that much of a drop on my stock truck. In fact, I had to remove it when I was towing a heavy load with the goosenecks because it would drag leaving the yard. So, I gave that one to my son who has a lifted truck and got me a 5" drop. Works great.

My Weigh Safe has an 8" drop. It's more than I need but I haven't had it hit the ground, yet. 6" would have been plenty for me but I didn't know that at the time.
I looked a lot and it came down the B&W tow n stow or weigh safe.
There where about the same price and same GTW so I went with the Weight Safe as it jase the feature to tell your rung weight, and both made in the USA.
I went with the 6" drop, which works on my 2018 F450, but just barely. The 8" drop would probably be better.
I have the WeighSafe 8” drop. It’s a piece of art. I also have airbags, so i don’t have any squat. I would say a 6” drop would be perfect on a stock truck w/out airbags.

I have the 8" drop WS hitch on my F-450 and according to the dimensions given on their FAQ, I have the correct amount of clearance with that drop installed, 11".
