Wiring issues

Hello I have a 1991 e150 with a 4.9 in it I replaced the alternator and how it acts like their not enough power to crank and is doing all kinds of weird things, any idea what it could be? Thanks!

If the battery is fully charged then I'd check connections first on the battery and then grounds. To test for a grounding issue hook up a heavy wire from the battery to the body or motor (or both) and see if that helps. The ground wire has a bracket to attach the wire midway down the run to the motor or body (I can't remember which) that gets corroded and won't let it start (had this on an '88). Took me a bit to figure it out. This easier to troubleshot with a helper and a meter to check for voltage drop and a bad connection. You may also need to check your ignition switch on the steering column.

another thing to check / replace is the starter relay..they can amp out and cook...it is located on the fender or behind the battery and cheap to replace..( 20 bucks max )
