400 valve train

I just picked a rebuilt set of heads.... the spring seats were machined to accept double coil springs, but currently has edelbrock single coils.... is this a problem???

also, I was wanting to replace cam... how concerned should I be on identifying my valve springs as far as ratings... I'm not going with anything wild, more of an RV type...... thanks for any comments

Shouldn't be too much of a prolem, but if you are worried talk to one of the better cam companies. I think there are some special stamped spring seats that would guide the bottom of your springs. As for I.D. ing the springs it would be a good idea. If you have too much lift or if the springs are too weak you won't get the performance that you are after.

The cam company will have a recommended set of springs for their cams as well as retainers and seats etc.
