So I entered my 350 in a car show this year. Never done it, don't plan on "winning". Just thought it'd be a fun day checking out other rides. Anyone else do that? My pickup is used to tow and haul stuff in the bed like hay so it's far from show quality imho lol.

Since you live in CA .. Is this the show you're planning to attend?
F100 Western Nationals Truck Show - June 22, 2019 held at Canyon RV Park, part of the Featherly Park complex, north of the 91 freeway in NE Anaheim
All FoMoCo trucks and Ranchero's thru 1979. Show sponsored by Pickups Limited of Orange County.
Actually it's the one in fallbrook on the sunday memorial weekend.
I'm not familiar with this show.
There are dozens of shows in SoCal, I've attended many of them over the past 50 years and these shows were not just for FoMoCo vehicles.
The most recent show I attended (as a spectator) was the L/A chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club, held at Bob's Big Boy in Northridge several weeks ago.
I entered my F350 in an "all Ford" show at the Triple-X Drive-In in Issaquah, Washington about 6 years ago. It was mostly Mustangs and Thunderbirds. One guy had an early Bronco, and there was a '66 crew cab truck there, too. We were the only trucks there. 99% of the people walked right past my truck without even glancing at it. Wrong crowd, I guess.

But I bet there were some nice rides there. Takes all kinds. I for one can appreciate any vehicle. Well, except a prius hahaha.
Do it, its a great way to be able to haul your lawn chains and cooler past the gate and get better a better view. Also a great way to met and great fellow Ford fans. I have taken my ol blue truck, the shy silver truck and both early Bronco's to local car shows. The tube buggy gets its time in the parade line so the grandson and wife can toss candy. Took the red Bronco to the Off Road Jamboree a few years ago, and hung out with some fellow FTE state chapter members. At another local show I somehow managed to win the 4wd class with a receive an awesome hand made trophy with the ol red bronco. Print out some FTE spotter cards and hand out to fellow "dentsiders".
I want to take my 1978 F150 to PigeonForge in mid-May to the Grand National F100 Ford Reunion. Anyone know if they will let me bring my truck into the show since it is a F150?

We enter shows as "cruise-ins". We don't go to win, just for entertainment. If we enter we usually win if it's a class show. Hayride is definitely not a "show" truck. We go in as stock, 1970-1980 truck. Most shows around here consider stock as less than 4 modifications. We've only got one - the 90's F150 rims. There is hardly ever any trucks these years. Specially if it's a Ford show. Once in a while they'll be a square body Chevy(1973-1987?), but never seen a stock one at a show. I've actually asked "can I not pay, just show but not enter" as not to take a trophy from some who really wants one.
I did this at my company's car show a few years ago and won 2nd place in the Best Truck category.....TO AN EL CAMINO!!! I was the only real truck in the show and lost to a '70's El Camino. Never been so disappointed in my fellow coworkers (who voted on the winners). It wasn't a huge show, maybe 30 cars.
Funny story: Buddy and I pulled a solid all original 66 F100 out of a junkyard, threw fresh gas, a belt, some tires and a battery in it and went to the local car show a month after that, as spectators. Left the 66 in the parking lot and went to go check out all the highly polished and detailed cars. Apparently the all original patina'd 66 was quite a hit, because there was a small group of people checking it out when we got back to the truck, and had, unbeknownst to us, been that way all day. I guess a classic anything stands out in a world of corollas and Prius no matter the condition.
I go to a few local cruise nights by me, things I can get to within 15-20 min. I meet a lot of cool people and a lot of cool cars. I do a few pay to enter shows, maybe once a month. My favorite shows in NJ are the Deadmans Curve show and Lead East. There is also the best show on the, east coast anyway, The Hotrod Farm, in Montville. You are always surprised by something when you go, burnout pads, beer, food, always a celeb or builder, ohh yeah cars, trucks, and bikes too always a good time, until the cops kick you out. No judging just good 'ol fun.
Well, yesterday was the show. Let me tell you, it was a great time, little bit of rain but still a good turn out in my opinion. I am still amazed at the talent of so many builders. So many nice vehicles. I had a great time and will definitely do it again. I didn't "win" but that was expected. Not sure how my pickup was recieved cause I was out all day oogling all the nice cars, pickups and other assorted vehicles. I was the only pickup of the era though. That kind of surprised me. All in all it was a great day with family and some friends who were there. If anyone is thinking about doing it...do it. It's a fun day around good people.
