Time to delete?

Ok. 2011 F350 Lariat PSD CCLB 4X4 Two weeks ago we had a very heavy wet snow. It was packed in everywhere and this happened... I saw the pipe disconnected and figured I'd wait until things dried out to get under and work on it. About 250 miles later up came the codes. Question is will this after all the sensors cause these codes? Will simply reconnecting and clearing them be enough or if s it delete time. Ive heard of the weight loss happening when stuff falls off but I thought it was a figure of speech.

Broken bolts between the DPF and tailpipe.

It's a personal decision for several reasons. State emissions are one. If you don't have them it's not a problem. I didn't see the milage on the truck but you're well out of warranty so it wouldn't matter as far as that went.

The straight pipe would include those bolts that broke though.

I'm sure that reattaching the pipe and clearing the codes would fix the issue though. Deleting will be more expensive than the bolts to fix that pipe. The tuner isn't cheap and the straight pipe is another couple hundred bucks.

I deleted mine when stuff fell off and couldn't be happier, uh, I mean, darn. It smells like a truck stop and my wife loves the smell. But that's something to consider. Will people be affected by the odor?

Lastly, my mileage went from 17 to 22 on the highway. I know, sucks... But it happened.

Thanks for the reply. 278K on the clock. No testing in my area. If I can clear and reattach for now cool. I'll start stashing cash for the day it falls off completely.

But not everyone gets that big a boost in mileage. I've seen some guys here that state it's the same and some say a mile or two gained. YMMV... Personally, I'd be ecstatic if I got 1 mpg improvement.

Check out the recent delete threads here if you need info on the subject. Probably could do it for no more than 1k dollars for flash tuner, delete tune(s), block off plates and delete pipe keeping on EGR cooler and using stock tailpipe. Look to Shibby Engineering for a plug kit for emission plugs not used anymore.

I did mine for around $900 including tuner, tunes, block off plates and delete pipe. Never looked back

I put the pipe back together and cleared the codes but they persist. I now have a constant CEL with P20E8, P164A and P2A00. This was never an issue before the pipe came apart. I plan to delete. I sent out an email to OSTS over a week ago with a few questions I had but am disappointed to say i have got no response. I want the Tyrant tunes but cant spring for the EZLYNK. I'll have to settle for the X4. They had the best price I could find but if they don't have customer service before the sale I sure won't get it once they have my money. Now I start shopping again. Has anyone tried the $20 EGR block off kit from evilbay? Looks like it has all the same parts as the pricey guys just without the engraving...

Good luck with your delete, brother. Others will chime in. Be patient. You can also do a search for delete threads.

I understand there always has to be some consideration for cost but considering the consequences of bad tunes, damage to the engine and transmission etc. I would definitely not try to do things on the cheap. That said GDP tunes on the ez link is probably the best way to go.

Thoroughbred diesel has great customer service, before and after the sale. Best price on the ez link with pre-installed tunes from gdp . Pretty easy plug and play and the chat feature on the ez link you can contact GDP during business hours and they can customize the tunes to exactly what you want. Pretty slick way to do it.

I did the ez link with GDP tunes, no limit block off plates, pro flo 5 inch straight pipe. no complaints or problems

Another option you do have, since yours is a 2011, if you can find a H&S minimax it will work on your truck with good results. There is no longer any support from H&S as they no longer make tuners but it will still delete the truck and tune the transmission with SOTF capabilities

Im aware of H&S. I have read some folks were not happy with the trans tuning from GDP while others were. I have not read anything negative about the Tyrant. That's why it's the route i'd like to go.

New trans tuning from gdp much better. I’ve heard more bad about tyrant than gdp and sct not SOTF.

Either way, long as it’s deleted you’re good to go.

No complaints here with the X4 and Tyrant tunes. I set mine and forget it so saving the money on the X4 was a no brainer. Once camping season starts I'll take the 20 minutes to switch to the tow tune. The savings in $$$ will outweigh the extra effort to change tunes a few times a summer. Might not even have to change to the tow tune. Michigan is fairly flat and the camper I am purchasing shouldn't weight for than 10K loaded. Any opinions on that from those with experience?
