I bought a 94 e150 hightop with 174k. It's a 351w I noticed the oil pan gasket was leaking I was wondering should I replace the oil pump while I'm under there. Back story with the van is that its been sitting for 5 years becuase the original owner didn't want to fixing the exhaust manifold leak and lost the key. I bought it put a new key changed all fluids and sprayed some fogger down the cylinder and the van started right up no knock, ticks or smoke. But I'm guessing the old owner try to fix the leak there is a broken stud with a snapper extractor in it. I ordered a new head and with the intake off I'm going to replace the oil pan gasket but while the pan is off I was thinking about the oil pump. So should I replace it?

It's impossible to replace the oil pump without pulling the engine out. So unless you're willing to do that, Fahgetaboutit ! Ain't going to change the oilpan gasket either without pulling or raising the block up several inches (with the heads off) I suggest tightening the pan gasket bolts and call it good. It should have a one piece gasket in that 94, they don't go bad. The 1 piece rear seals do leak too, and aren't hard to replace, but you have to pull the transmission to do so.
Ok thanks I'll just give the pan a good cleaning and tighten down the blots and just keep a eye on it. Sooner or later the engine will be out to do a rebuild. While I was looking on rockauto I noticed they have oil pumps for high mileage has anyone used them.
