Filler neck question

Filler neck question
I have an early 2000 Excursion 6.8 that needs a new filler neck. According to my mechanic there is 2 possible gas versions for 2000? I cannot find any info on if this is true or if its just a revision mid year. Any body run into this problem?

As far as I know ALL EXs came with the exact same fuel tank through the entire production run of 6 years, so all the gas filler necks should be the same.
