I have a 2000 excursion v-10 and have tried everything I know how to do, so I’m hoping there is an expert out there that can shed some light(whether good or bad) on my current dilemma! I cannot get the 4wd to activate or engage. I have replaced, 4wd actuator, vacuum pump, trans case motor, every single relay in the truck, the gem module (which ford dealer said wouldnt program and am still wondering if the original was bad in the first place). I also cannot get my cruise control to work nor the info readout in head panel ( don’t know if all this is related but throwing everything I know out there). When I replaced T/C motor once I hooked up wiring harness it clicked like it wanted to engage but that was it. Thanks for any and all info and suggestions
I just bought this about 8 months ago. So I highly doubt the cruise recall has been done but As far as the fuses and relays I changed but not sure about the harness. I will have to research that. Forgot to mention They have aftermarket rims and original vacuum lines were terminated and put on a funky bypass system but reattached original vacuum lines and got good vacuum but still no avail. I am no master with electrical by any means but can find my way around schematics and a multimeter half way decent

The vacuum pump on the V-10 is the V-10, there is no vacuum pump to replace.

Do you mean aftermarket "rims" or "hubs"? It matters here for troubleshooting, rims don't affect the situation, hubs do. I too would be interested in seeing the "funky bypass system".
I hope some people write in here because I have the same issue with a friends 2000 Excursion with 7.3 diesel in it. I haven't replaced all the components yet though. I seem to have no command coming from GEM module to 4wd relays.
Csmith, Do you the relays click when you turn the switch? Have you tried driving at 5mph and turning the switch? Do your 4X4 and Low Range lights prove out when you start the truck? Do you have access to a scan tool?
I’m in no way a mechanic, but my BIL’s uncle is and he found the inability to engage 4WD was a wiring issue under the dash. Been working perfectly since he worked on it.

i apologize for the vacuum statement as as I had a 6.0 for years that had a similar problems and it traced back to that and and a single wire in the trans module In glove box. I also have a new born and 2 girls and all the time i try to reply involve screaming kids so that’s the second apology. It’s an electrical bypass on the hubs but can’t see where it leads to because I put everything back but will show picture. Nothing happens when I switch to low or high and tried the 5 mph switch and nothing. So I believe it’s electrical but that’s my Achilles heel. I’m attaching some pics but Just left outta town 4wd lights up after I changed out actuator. But still nothing happens when it’s engaged. Wiring to hub same on both sides so whoever wired it it was done sloppy Wheels sorry no close up as this is the only pic I have New T/C motor
till Sunday night so won’t be able to try anything till then.
