Fuel overflow

My '93' f150 has two tanks, yesterday I fill both tanks and switched to the rear tank. Gas started pouring out of the front tank fill spout. The gauges are working and the truck runs. If I switch to the front tank it stops pouring out. So what's up with that?

The FDM in the front tank is bad. The FDM contains a shuttle valve that has gone bad. This is a common cross fuel problem with dual tanks.

So, does that mean dropping the tank and replacing the module? When the front tank is empty can I switch to the rear and pump the fuel into the front tank?

Yes, you can either drop the tank or pull the bed.

I would empty the front quickly, as it's of going to keep overfilling. I ended up using some clear tubing and siphoned out my rear when the rear pump went bad.
