Another Newbie~
I was SO looking seriously and heavy at the MY04 F-150's... then checked the new Dodges... peeked at some GM's... but ultimately ended up w/:
MY2003 XLT F250 SD, Crew, Fx4, SB, 6.0L Diesel, auto, 3.73 ltd-sl rear.
Wow, this is FAR more 'truck' than any of the others I was looking at. Also, w/ year end incentives ($4k) coupled w/ A-plan brought this truck to cheaper than ANY other lighter truck I could find (2-yr lease). AM SO happy I went this route!!! Will sure tow snowmobiles better than my old Grand[pa] Marquis.
WOW, this sucker is HUGE!!!! clears garage door top lip by <1" and have <4" to spare lenthwise. So, won't have to 'scrape' this winter... (would need a friggin' ladder anyway!).
Thanks for all info I've found on this sight so far. Will stay tuned regularly to keep informed.
(one little question... as is my first diesel anyway... HOW long to warm up? it hesitates, as tho 'missing' when taking off just after starting??? all fine after some warm up time.).
drew in motown.
The warmup I use is based on how cold it is when you start. Here in NE ohio until it gets down to below 32 deg I usually give it two min, because you are stiring / heating up 15 qt's of oil. At lower temp's I try to give it a longer warmup, have never had to use the engine heater even down to 0 deg.
As to your other concern about the clearance with the garage door, don't forget ground heave by frost because you live in a cold climate, you will lose that margin and more. Keep an eye on your clearance, don't want to lose your clearance lights.
Good luck with your new truck and enjoy!
