Looking for Excursion
Looking to PURCHASE.
02-03 7.3L Excursion or 05- 6.0L with documents proving all major well-known drivetrain issues/recalls have been addressed..ahem head bolts. Religious about servicing is a huuuuugee plus. Using high-grade fluids etc
Mostly Stock, no more than 2 owners + Clean title. MUST PASS CA SMOG.
Documents proving service or parts replaced is a big plus.
Leather seats in great condition, nonsmoker, Rust or Black paint, lifted more than 3" ((Deal Breaker))
Message me below with a brief description of your truck with a few pictures and what sets your truck above the rest. Also, name your price.
Answer this question first in your reply so I know you fully understand my requirements. What is the average MPG of your Excursion?
Probably not gonna get much traction here in this forum with this particular post. We have a marketplace here that you might get some on. There are also a few spots here such as the "Craigslist find of the day" thread that may be of some use.
Basically saying you would buy a POS 6.0 with a hacked suspension because it looked neat but would pass up a Bitchen 7.3 with a correctly done great handling suspension because it is 3”
Oh and the average MPG of my 7.3 is ..... 21 MPG ! Haha everyone knows that cause the overhead console says so
I'd limit your search to California if it needs to pass smog there, if you buy one from another state there's no way to know for certain if it will pass CA until you get it home. If looking at 6.0s, be prepared to educate owners on what they had done to their trucks compared to what "bulletproofing" actually entails - many were sold "bulletproofing" in the form of a couple inexpensive bolt-ons. That doesn't make the machine any less valuable in the absolute sense, just not worth as much as an owner may believe.
Everyone has their reasons for not wanting a lifted vehicle, but something to consider: lowering a lifted suspension is neither complicated nor expensive (in relative terms), and in the grand scheme of things, it may be cost-effective if you find an otherwise perfect match.
That said, I am sure somewhere on this planet somebody has done a 3” correctly, and despite looking at hundreds of them I have yet to see one.

Welcome to the EX forum!
You just joined, and read the rules of membership and forum usage, so you KNOW that we can NOT discuss prices on members rigs for sale here in the tech forum, right?
. Those things need to be discussed via PMs and your PM priveledges wont be activated until you hit over 10 posts, so join into a few conversations to let folks here get to know you and get those PMs unlocked. Good luck on your very specific search.

but what transmission differences make the early 4R100s a better choice vs the later ones? I thought it was the other way around with the early ones having the trouble prone mechanical diode issue.

Disclaimer: I've watched a ton of his videos, and did so as part of my decision to purchase a 6.0 in the first place. I like him.
But, he's only seen one other excursion with later model (06?) suspension/brakes/axles?? @Nicmike do you know Bill???
And it's completely redone but the steering wheel is upside down and the wheels are basically straight?? What the heck man. Bill needs to come to this forum and see all the rigs that folks are building these days before he says he has the best X out there. Rant over, and I'll go watch the rest of the video and see when it was posted..I guess it could be a couple years old by now.
There were thousands of gas engine trucks that had their transmissions replaced before they left the assembly plant. Allegedly NO gas engine trucks made it to dealers with the mechanical diode. All diesels had it until March 23, 2001, when the mechanical diode was replaced by the one way clutch it replaced."
As I read this, it's unlikely one found its way into an '02.
