removing AC

i never use my AC. if i do it sucks too much power and/or the truck heats up, so i just wanted to do away with it. i was curious about what it would take to just rip the thing out. i know i have to take to a shop to take the refrigerant out but i wanted to do all the pulley and the hose crap myself, so i was wondering how to go about that since my all my shop manual says about it is to take it to a shop. and how do i replace that pulley if i need to? i have a 1992 f-150 with a 5.0 in it. thanks

Why rip it out? A/C is a selling point when/if you decide to sell the truck. It takes no power from the engine to turn the pulley. So you remove the compressor and three hoses, what's that gonna gain you?

You will be much farther ahead to leave it alone. Once you remove the components and the system is open for any length of time, it would be very expensive to re-install it if you change your mind or someone else gets the truck.

Currently, it is an assest to the truck. Not having it is a negative to most people.
