I found moisture in my 1989 302's coil, which that and the 160k makes me sure that it needs replacing. I have read that a coil alone produces good power difference over a factory one, but what about mileage. I know some members here have changed, so would you guys mind posting if you did? What did you guys notice in mileage. The 1.69/gallon gas and 12mpg is starting to rub me wrong, so instead of complaining about the price, I will start doing some upgrading...
I have run about 5 fillups since the new coil(MSD TFI). I haven't been able to change the wires yet as finding anything for a 6 is difficult.
On the highway my mileage has increased from 13.75-14 to 16.75-17
My City driving has seen an increase from 13-14.5. As for performance, my original coil was probably a little tired, but there is definitly more top end Hp and smoother acceleration.
