SOF 4x4 not working in reverse
Have a question on the SOF system for my 2016 F350 SD.
Have a steep angle approach in to my shop at home. I back truck up the doors, put in to 4Hi & try backing into the shop on ice. Rear wheels spin but front does nothing. Have to get out & engage the hubs for it to lock up front tires.
Does the SOF system have to be driven forward a certain amount for the front to lock up? Or do I have a problem with the vacuum system??

I’d say you have a vacuum problem
can test it by leaving the hubs on auto, drive forward and shift into 4wd. If it doesn’t work going forward either, then probably the vacuum. If you’re not sure if 4wd is engaged, turn the wheels while driving slowly to see if you feel them bind

Thanks for the info. Just left work & did a few laps in parking lot full turn. System works with hubs locked in but not in auto.
Where is the vacuum pump for the 4x4 system on the 2016 F350? I knew where it was located on my old 06 SD. But can’t find it on this rig. I’ll crawl under this wknd & chase the lines.

on my 2011 and 2006, I just manually locked them when needed when the vacuum stopped working. Actually put Warn manual hubs in the 2006
