Question Rear Console Sub Box????

I want to replace the 8" Sony POS "Subwoofer" in my 15' F250. I'd love to get the 13.5" JL and the custom box made for it by SuperCrewSound, but alas I'm broke as of right now. I've already got an Amp and Sub from my last truck and I've been reading about integrating an additional sub amp so I bought an AudioControl LC2i. So I decided to build my own custom rear console box to house my JL 10W6v2 d4 that is just sitting in the garage (Giving me a funny look every time I call the 8" Sony Driver a subwoofer). I have to build a new box for it because the last one it was in was only my 2nd attempt at building a sub enclosure and while it worked for my 07' 6.0l F250 XLT. A large grey rectangle isn't going to cut it in the 15' 6.7l F250 King Ranch :-). Also it just wouldn't fit Ford no longer sticks a sofa with 3 feet of leg room in the back of the cab. So I started looking around to try and see if anyone had plans for a Rear Console enclosure that would fit a 10" or 12" Sub No luck. I've found a couple of companies that make a down firing rear center console box for 11'-13' F250s & F2350s and the pictures have the same rear console I have but they don't list it for the 14', 15' or 16' there seems to be a couple more options of behind the rear seat boxes for shallow mount subs and High end under the seat boxes (MTI acoustics make some nice boxes if you don't mind losing your under seat storage) for my truck. But otherwise I haven't found anything for a rear console sub enclosure for the 2015 F250 Crew cabs. Does anyone know why? Is there some reason no one makes one? It hasn't been easy but I'm almost finished with mine and I'm an electrician by trade not a Box maker. Any info would be great. Thanks.
I've included some pictures for your enjoyment. Next time they'll be smaller I guess 25% of original is not small enough.

Most of the customers I have come through are willing to give up the under seat storage. It is the easiest solution and probably why box makers go that route. Most of the consoles that I have seen are custom units built by someone who wanted something a little different.

That's not bad for your first box. If you have time, look for Car Audio Fabrication on YouTube as Mark's videos are geared toward someone who may have not built anything before, while employing techniques that allow for a professional finished look. How is the sub going to fire and what do you plan on finishing the outside with?

If you have issues setting up the LC2i (great unit by the way), there is also a very good video from Five Star Car Audio on You Tube that explains it very well. .

It's Done!!

Thanks for the info. The sub is going to fire into the rear seat (Im not a huge fan of down firing subs in vehicles) I'm familiar with C.A.F. and Mark (Gotten a lot of tips from his channel) Its actually my 3rd box just my first that isn't a square made with only a circular saw. Just finished last night gonna install everything later today. I know most people go with either a behind or under the seat box with shallow subs I was just surprised at the lack of other options on the market. It wasn't that difficult to design and make a box that has enough air for a JL10W6 and the only thing I'm losing access to is the little cubby at the bottom on the back of the center console. (Luckily these trucks come with an abundance of places to put crap). The finish is camel colored carpet and brown Vinyl to match the King Ranch Leather. I made a second Baffle (all though Im not sure if its an actual baffle only being 1/8" thick) thats removable and covered in the Vinyl. Not the Greatest covering job but again I'm an Electrician.

All of the seams you can see in the pictures are covered by the center console.

I think you did a great job for not doing many boxes. I never understood the lack of different sub options, but the ones like you did get respect because they are different. Great work.

Thanks! It was a pain but totally worth it

It was tough took me awhile in the end but it hits harder in that box than it has in the two previous boxes it was in the audio control lc2i really helps out. I sent both of the sub channels to it and then from that to the Rockford fosgate p400 1 (2010). And it sounds really good, nice clean Lows that I can rattle the car's windows next to me if I choose and still not get any distortion. I was reading another thread about how the DSP in the Sony touch screen head unit filters out some of the low end frequencies there's been a couple of songs I've listened to and thought in order to protect the OEM speakers and there have been a few times I've said to myself ”isn't there supposed to be bass there?” but it's few and far between and it could totally be my imagination. If it ever starts to bug me I'll just tap into the front speaker channels and then know for sure that I'm getting full range. But as of now I'm just glad it's done and I can move on to the next project. at first I was a little worried about whether I was going to be able to get adequate airspace in that little enclosure but the JL10W6V2 only requires .625 cubic feet of air in a sealed enclosure and I ended up with 1.99 and I think the driver itself displaces .068
