Carb question

Will the Holley 510-0-4412s bolt in place of my stock carb?

If anyone has ran one, what do you think? I am wanting a little better carburetion but don't want to change the manifold out to go to a 4 bbl.

Jegs has them listed for $220, is there any other options in that price range?

Thanks
Matt

I thought they were like racing carbs. Keep in mind that carb the 500 cfm is manual choke.

i have one it runs like hell compared to the stock carb. my only problem is now i think it is jetted a little rich for the application. i will be sitting at a red light and lets say i just put it to the floor i have a slight hesitation, my dad says just dont put it to the floor like that but i think its the jets. other than that its great. the engine really likes the 50CC accel pump also.

i would recomed it if you can get someone who really knows holly carbs to set it just right.

rember it is for circle track raceing so its not exactly built to go on a ford FE.

I used to run one a long time ago, it's an old carb. (but a good one) I jetted down from 73's to 71's to get a little better mileage. Lots more power than the stock 2bbl. and a manual choke is nice imo.

The hesitation is not the jets. Does it bog(too much gas) or lean out(stutter). This will most likely be accelerator pump/squirter set up. You need to put a larger squirter in it. I think it should have a #25 in it. Try something bigger(#28-30). The number is stamped right in the squirter. Just a phillips screwdriver to change it.

The 50cc pump should have plenty of fuel to feed the motor, but you need a bigger HOLE to give the motor more fuel to keep it from falling on it's face. You can also change the "cam" that operates the pump, but I don't think that is an issue yet.

ANYTHING is better than a stock Autolite.

Thanks for the replies!

I still have one question, will this carb bolt in place of my stocker? If not, what sort of mods am I looking at?

I have also decided that my stock carb is a piece of junk.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Where can I get a good deal on the Holley? $220 from jegs doesn't sound bad, but it always pays to ask around.

Thanks
Matt

yeah i had to do very little mods to the gas pedal rods and stuff no big tho a lil bending the metal rods but i fugured it out in about 30 min and im just 17 so i dont think some one with any more experance would even have that much trouble.

it also gets to much gas because it backfires im gona start a thread for carb trouble and see if i can get it solved.
