I have an 84 F-150 that I am in the process of changing the transmission from a C6 to an AOD. The truck was actually an AOD originally. I have a rebuilt AOD, all the shifter linkage (which was the same as what I had on the C6) and TV rod.
Someone told me that AOD's had a different carb than a C6 to actuate the TV rod. Can anyone confirm this. I have everything to place, and it all looks good.
It is not a whole different carb, but the linkage on the carb is different. If you have a holley, you can just buy the linakge from them and put it on.
Oh yeah I forgot, you will need to scour the salvage yards for the TV rod itself if you don't have one. Ford has stopped making the parts you need to do this conversion. You can also do a search for bauman engineering I believe they also sell the parts you need for a good conversion.
Thanks Johnny for the reply. I was actually lucky enough to find one at a local wreckers, so I'm all set there. I also compared my carb on the 302 currently to the 351W the AOD came off of, and the linkage on the carbs look identical.
best thing to do is call up Lokar and order the cable and brackets from them.. Unless you found a good setup in the salvage yard. Be careful when you put together your setup; AOD are picky about TV adjustment. if its wrong, it'll fry the tranny fairly easy.
