My setup is as follows. I have a 1976 Ford F250 4x4 with a 360 Fe motor, C6, np 205 case and 410 gears. I recently installed an edelbrock performer intake and a holley 670 truck avenger. The truck has an edelbrock cam, electric fuel pump 7 psi regulated. It also has a set of headman headers and 2.5 exhaust with glasspacks. It runs 19 hgs of vaccum. I have recently jetted th carb up from a 65 jet to a 71. And now show a decent burn on my plugs, while i was in there i also put in a 8.5 power valve. Now my problem is that on flooring the accelerator it will cause the truck to stall out, if i dont floor it just slowly accelerate it runs fine.
I am currently running16 degrees of timing. I called holley and they said its my power valve that i should have put one in thats a little smaller (7.0 or 7.5). Does this sound right or should i play with the squirter (.028 currently) or play with the accelerator cam ( it has an orange one currently) Any info is appreciated
Thanks
David
I would try a 31 squirter with nozzles or a 28 without nozzles.
You can also check the accelerator pump adjustment. It should have .015 clearence when the throttle is wide open .( not bottoming out in the diaphram housing).
What I mean is with the throttle open completely, you should still be able to move the pump diaphram lever .015 before it bottoms out.
If it bottoms out too soon, then you aren't getting a full pump shot when opening the throttle wide open.
What is the idle vacuum when it is idling in gear? Your power valve # should be 1/2 of that vacuum. So if you have 16" in gear, then you would want a 7.5 powervalve.
