Just did a full EGR delete, race pipe kit and SCT tune on my ‘17 6.7. I got on it pretty hard. Rear tires spinning and all of a sudden it acted like it went into neutral. I pulled into a parking lot and put it in reverse and it worked fine. Backed out and left again without hammering it and it seems fine? Did I hurt my tranny or what?
I would say you did not hurt your tranny. You can pull a house off it’s foundation w your rig. Maybe download updated tunes? Sounds like the issue could be there.
Thanks for the input guys. I really appreciate the smart a$$ remarks from some of you. If you don’t have an opinion other than just looking for an opportunity to look like a smart *** then perhaps keep your opinion to yourself. I personally would like my truck to perform better and get better mileage and not use DEF. mustangs won’t pull my boats either lol

My gut tells me you hurt it. Something inside the trans couldnt handle the torque and it won't improve.
I took it to the shop and there was an error in my downloaded program. Deleted the program and logged into WiFi and updated new program and it seems to have fixed the issue

Hmmmm...As I understand the 6.7L OE engine management systems, torque is managed / limited in the first three gears to protect the transmission from damage. Your delete and tune may have over ridden the OE torque management spec and may well have resulted in damage to the transmission. I guess you'll know sooner than later, and if there was damage it won't likely be covered under your warranty - if you're still under warranty. Good luck.

This probably isn't the best place to ask about that kind of stuff, it seems like there are very few people here who understand the benefits of tuning, and instead are all doom and gloom and scared of gov't raiding their house in the middle of the night becuase of a delete lol. Try the '2017+ 6.7 powerstrokes' page on Facebook, seems to be alot more info there, and less judgey people.
Why can't a truck be both? I'm sure people have been hotrodding trucks since the day the were created. Live a little.
I can think of about 7500 reasons why.
Best case, the OP tripped something electronic and triggered a limp mode. Worst case, he has bits of metal floating around in either the transmission, or the rear diff. Nobody on a forum is going to know for certain, its all just speculation, only time will tell if the issue will reoccur.
I deleted my 2012 and loved it. The truck can handle it. Don’t let the naysayers get to you.
I just had the transmission replaced in my 02 7.3 Excursion and 6 months later it would just drop out of gear at low speed. I get on it every time I drive it so I had the same thoughts you did. Turns out my PCM computer went bad.
The point is to enjoy your truck. I don’t really even tow much or use the bed but I enjoy driving it and I WANTED a CCLB with a diesel so I bought it- because I could.

Damage would depend on why the transmission "neutraled". If it was a clutch pack slipping you very likely scorched the clutches and that will be a problem down the road, although perhaps not obvious now.
If the transmission programming is at fault and didn't apply the proper clutches then you might not have done any damage.
I owned a couple of Aamco transmission centers for several years so have considerable experience with automatics. Based on what I have seen some of the aftermarket tunes are causing transmission issues which result in ruined transmissions. I am 100% sure that a stock transmission can withstand virtually any amount of power a tuned motor can make, with the truck unloaded. Its rated for 1400 lbs/ft of torque.
