Caps / Topper Pictures

Hello, I just picked up a black 2019 crew cab and want to put a cap on it. Do any of you have pictures of your trucks with caps? There are too many options - I am leaning towards Leer but would love to hear any input people have.

Thanks!

Leer XQ...I like the way the window line mimics the rear door line

Mine is an ARE-Z, the fit and finish are really nice. The lines, windows and paint match the truck like it could've come from Ford with it.Name: photo11.jpg

Wow, those both look great - thanks guys! Seems like both are good options and it comes down to small things. I am going to visit all the local dealers and see if any stand out quality-wise.

These trucks really are sharp looking!

A few things to think about..
If you want it to look factory, the frameless windows on the top of the line models are important. Look at all of the options available on the model that you choose as well. Two that you might not think about are a front glass that hinges in or can be removed for cleaning. Once the topper is on, your not going to be able to reach the outside of your trucks rear glass or the toppers front glass. The other is an electric lock the works with your keyless entry. Getting a key out every time you want in the back will get old quick. I also optioned a Yakima rack and the interior carpet, which matches perfectly with the Bedrug that I put in the truck.

I'm too green for it to let me post pics, but I have the ARE Z series on my black 2017 CCLB. I have had 3 Leer shells on my 2014 CCLB, and 2 Nissan Titans.

I would say, go with the ARE all day. I will NEVER buy another LEER. The fit and finish, and quality of the ARE are far and away better in every way than the LEER's were. Not to mention the shop that sold and installed made EVERY part look like it was factory.

ARE, leer, and snug top are the 3 main brands. snug top is a smaller company with not as many dealers. ARE and leer both make the tops for the smaller companies like ranch and century from what I hear. I have had a leer in the past but my last 3 tops have been ARE. the quality and customer service has been better, plus there are more options available. while the big glass windows on the side look great, anytime you want to get something in your truck bed you have to crawl in. I choose the ARE CX with windoors with LED automatic hinge mounted switches. also, I had 2 ARE dealers both an hour away from me and the price difference was $600 so be sure to check around.

Just ordered a z series which is frameless windows

would be nice if they offered z series in different hieghts but they dont

had framed windows in the past and didn’t like them.

major brands are ARE, LEER , Cenurty.

i get the sense that someone makes these for every one.

i almost bought a mid hieghtvspace cap...which is really the only thing that will stay water proof and secure. But a plAin Jane mid high with screened slide windows on 3 sides and fixed in the back was 10k. That’s 3x the cost of the top of the line z series. The biggest turn off was loosing the tail gate.

Thanks everyone! A lot of goid information and pictures.

With a cab high cap, does your overall height increase? Seems since the highest point on my truck now is the back of the cab, with the rake on these trucks even a cab high cap seems like it would increase the height of the truck. I dont expect the bed to settle under the relatively light weight of the fiberglass cap.

Thanks again for the help!

I have a long bed and just barely fit in the garage, actually had to redo my garage trim. I had planned on lowering the rear of my truck if it did not fit. the tops of these toppers are not really flat and each model is shaped a little differently. my biggest concern was exactly, what you said, theoretically the highest point would be the rear of the topper with the rake of the truck. the highest point of my topper was the center right about where my rear tire starts. the topper is actually a little lower than the rear cab and slopes back. I have tried to capture the shape in these pics.
