Correct air cleaner

So this is what currently exists as my air cleaner. I'd love to know what the factory one looks like if anyone has a pic, and perhaps knows where to get one?

Two different general styles - Open system and Closed system. Both oil bath.

Your current filler cap on the drivers side valve cover indicates an Open system, so like the first picture.

Otherwise like the second picture with the elephant trunk hanging off of the side and the filler cap with a similar smaller trunk.(Dumbo)

Closed system.

I hope that helps. I find them on eBay if I look for a while.

I didn't see where you mentioned what engine you have........original engine or something else....obviously it is not a 351, as the decal says.
Depending on what carb your engine is fitted with, make sure the new-to-you oil bath air cleaner fits onto the carb correctly.

Chad,
Wasn't the Closed system only installed on trucks meant for use/sale in California (emissions)?

Sort of. At least for 1966 it was optional on all trucks (6 cylinder and V-8) but *Required for California. I've seen it on trucks built and sold in the midwest.

Air cleaner is from a 1969 and later car w/a 351W. Valve covers are the pent roof type used on 1965/66 FE engines.

1967/76 FE pent roof valve covers have Powered by Ford embossed on them

Don't let what I said determine anything. If it is a DSO 71 or 72 then likely Closed System originally. The comment I made about the filler cap on the drivers side valve cover was just to say if that cap was used then you'd go with an Open system. I was not trying to indicate that the cap was original.
