Collasped Raditor Hoses

I just had a new raditor and new hoses installed on my Club Wagon 5.7L. I noticed when the motor is cold the upper and lower hoses collaspe. Then as the motor warms up the return to their original shape. Is this normal or did the repair shop give me cheap hoses?

that would be your system drawing a vacuum when cooled down. this happen on my f 150 over night and i have seen it on many other vechicles. next time your engine is cold open up the radiator cap add a little bit of fluid and you will be ok. you may also want to burp the cooling system to remove any air that gets trapped in it.

Do you have a coolant recovery bottle? The radiator should draw from that when it gets cold, not suck the hoses shut. If you do, check that the hose to the bottle is not clogged with ****. The level in the bottle should rise and fall with the warming and cooling of the coolant, respectively. You may also check your pressure cap. It should allow coolant to be pulled in from the bottle, and let coolant out if the pressure exceeds 13LBS psi.

Topping off may help, but a working recovery bottle will solve the problem instantly.
