I carry a floor jack , a piece of ply wood to put it on and some blocking. I get into some remote places hunting and fishing. I have had jacks sink into soft ground. I seem to get a flat about every 2 years or so.
A side note, related though...my new 2019 came with the spare mounted with the air valve pointed up, so its inaccessible to check. I dropped it and flipped it over so I could check it as part of routine. It had ~30PSI in it from factory, was supposed to be 70+.
That seems to be universally true with all manufacturers and really ticks me off.
Anyone know if the jack out of a 550drw is same as a 350?
I did a Ford Parts search and compared the OEM supplied jacks for the F250 and the F350/450's SRW and DRW and found that the jacks and brackets had different part numbers which led me to purchase the hydraulic jack, bracket and strap for a 350 to swap with the screw type bottle jack in my F250. I would gather that since the part #'s are different for the F450, its a heavier duty Hyd. jack, and assume the same would apply for the 550.
Ditto !!! I already received the jack and tool kit . I'm waiting for the new bracket and strap .
New bracket has been shipped . They gave me part # HC3Z17B014H for the bracket that fits the 6 ton ford hydraulic jack . We will see when it gets here . It looks quite a bit different than the one I have now for the screw jack .

RONMCHUGH, I like the idea but am having trouble following what you did, did you get a 4-ton or 6-ton hydraulic jack for your setup? Would you be kind enough to post the part numbers for for the hydraulic jack and tool kit that you purchased? Looks good in the picture are you happy with the combination of jack and bracket and how it fits?
Thanks
Last weekend I dropped my truck and rode with a guy to a camp.... After turning off the remote blacktop there's 12 miles of limestone before the 20 minute boat ride to camp. With about 3-4 miles of limestone to launch........pshhhhhhhh. Instant flat.
This guy had never pulled his spare off and didn't have a clue how to get it off. Not one piece of wood to put the flimsy jack on. Lucky 2 guys came by and provided some help. We got er did but it took some time and effort.
Dont be the guy that brags about never having to remove the spare!!!!

It is a 6 ton jack for the newer trucks , I also have a 6 ton jack for the older trucks that is 2 stage and a larger diameter . Here is where I got the jack : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Super-...53.m1438.l2649 . The part no. for the bracket is : HC3Z17B014H . Be aware that the tools that come with the screw jack will not have a part that works on the hyd. jack . I used that part from the other 6 ton set up I already had .
