99 5.0 Cel

I need some help here! I have a 99 exp 5.0 AWD with 70K and I'm getting a CEL. Had Auto Zone check it out and the code said it was the EGR valve. I replaced that and within a day the CEL came back. Rechecked and it was the same thing. (if I remember correct it was code 409, but i could be wrong) I also checked the AIR pipe to make sure it was clear and it was. If i clear the code it just comes back. Any suggestions??? Not sure if this is related or not but it runs rough between 30-35mph. I have had more problems with this lemon than you can imagine!! This one has me stumped. Dont really want to fork out the cash to the dealer if I dont have to.

Never owning an explorer again! (looking at Excursions!!)
