Do you know what the intermediate clutch accumulator is? is this just the full name for accumulator?

Part 56 and 59 say intermediate clutch accumulator regulator/plunger, there is a few different accumulators in this trans. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chime in as this is a bit out of my territory.

Yes that is the accumulator I was referring to. I guess I’ll pull it back out and stare at it some more. Maybe I need to just buy a new one and see what happens, mine could have a scratched bore or something.

since i caused you a problem before, i reluctantly say this. If you think a valve is hanging up. remove them one at a time. they should easly drop to their bottom seat, and when reversed should fall back out on their own. no pushing or pulling. look for scratches and wear marks on valves. i think you said you replaced the 3 small acc valves in the kit. The small spring in the modulator that was not there before, is just to give it a head start. it just floated from factory. Also i have a new, untouched acc valve body, RF-E9 I could sell you for what i have in it. This should work 89-94.

Exactly.Did you inspect the bore at all last time?

Automatic Transmission Tip: Vacuum Testing Valve Bodies

Maybe this time just take the thing to a trans shop and let them check it out for a few bucks for ya? Just how bad is the shift anyway? Neck snapping BANGING into gear I take it? I'm assuming its pretty darn harsh since your so persistent about finding the problem.Good on you for not giving up!

I didn't really "inspect" inspect the bore, I felt it out but I will take a much closer look this time.

The shifts are decently bad. feels like someone hit your back bumper slightly. I know what its suppose to feel like so its really annoying having it shift like this.

I noticed the top most one is orange and smaller, the rest are black like the ones I got from ebay. Should I be replacing this orange one with the black one or leave it alone or what?

The orange one is the temperature sensor, leave it alone, just change the black ones and make sure you match up the stripe end so they aren’t put in backwards.

Hello,

@restoman92
@FORDF250HDXLT
@ifrythings

So I took the pan off and dropped the accumulator and valve body. I took apart the accumulator again and noticed some gouging in the line pressure and 2nd bore. Pics are attached. Let me know if you guys think this could actually make a hard 1-2 shift.

Thank you - Shaun

Your pictures are hard to see, it looks like the camera focused on the end instead of the sides of the bore, can you try to get some better pictures of the sides of the bore where the scratches/ damage is?

Sorry that was on purpose, the only wear is right at the end where I focused the camera, you can see the shiny silver circles that were gouged out of the metal. The surrounding bore walls are smooth.
