My 98 4.6L started a popping/backfire noise every once in awhile. Not on a regular basis, but speed up from 50 to 55 mph. Not constantly popping, just a POP then it speeds up. Is it cam phasers, or bad fuel filter ? It just started doing this after I put 10 gallons of gas on Friday to go fishing. Maybe it doesn't like to go fishing ? If that's the case then it's a "gone pecan !" as we say down here in Louisiana !

Any advice will be appreciated !

Maybe the gas was tainted. I'd pour in a bottle of dry gas and see if that solves it before worrying too much.
