I need one of those Standard Parts Bin set of drawers - full of hardware preferably.
Bill, check out 04518-9 in the 1957-63 truck MPC - I think between that and the 030 page 935 and 936 illustrations for that era and the 1964-72 MPC 030 page 8 illustrations - well - maybe something to do in the later years with whether or not there was a padded instrument panel or not? Earlier vehicles maybe only got the trim if it had a padded dash and later models maybe different upper trim if it did or didn't have a padded dash?
I dunno, take a look and see what you think there. Lots of little details to consider.

City Ford's standard parts bin row extended 30' and the bins were 20' high. When I worked on an inventory crew, a pal and I had to inventory all of this once. Took about 5 hours.
City Ford was owned by the Cook Brothers, who owned a construction company. They must have ordered every standard part for 50 years.
They closed about 25 years ago, what happened to the parts I don't know, but I can guess...into the circular file.

The clips that I ask for the top of dash have no holes in the dash to mount. This truck 65 CC CS Ranger had a padded dash when I bought it. Upper trim had 4 clips on the trim piece all just pushed through the dash pad, that's it. Not sure what to make of that?
I see in some older pictures that the upper edge of the padded dash looks like it has more than 4 holes in it.
Can you tell me a little more about this truck? This might sound odd, but does it have the bedside tool compartment? I read another thread where you were planning to add one to a truck - I assume it was this truck you were adding it to since your red truck already has one?
If you look where the tool compartment was do you see any indication of this piece being between the opening for it and the wheelwell on the inside of the bed? Even if the rubber piece is gone you might be able to see traces of the 4 clips/pins or the holes they go in? You can probably see the clips are similar to the dash ones.
Reason for the line of questioning is the 1965 padded dash was not standard equipment like on the 1966 trucks.
With one exception. The 1965 F250 *Deluxe* Camper Special 3rd level trim package not available on the F100 would have come stock with the padded dash AND the bedside tool compartment from the factory. You could add the tool compartment to any truck, of course, but without the seal and pins it's a better chance it was a dealer or owner add-on after the fact instead of factory installed. Subtle detail, I know. Not a lot of other clues to go by in some cases.
Otherwise, there's a *chance* your truck wouldn't have originally had the padded dash. Lots of 1965 trucks didn't. If it was not a F250 Deluxe Camper Special and you didn't otherwise know to order it then you wouldn't have gotten the padded dash or the bedside tool compartment back then. Can be hard to tell after half a century sometimes, too. I know I don't look the same as I did 50 years ago...if only....
