I just bought a '98 F150 4x4 Offroad and the clutch isnt right. It doesnt always disengage fully and if I pump it a few times it gets better. It never seems to engage or disengage at the same pedal height.
Is there a way to bleed any air out of these or any adjustment at all? I didnt see any way to bleed the system. Is it suppose to take care of itself? I sure dont see it getting any better.
Your clutch has no adjustment but you can bleed it. A couple inches above where the hydraulic line goes into the bellhousing is a bleeder screw, probably with a rubber cap on it. Usually the best way to bleed it is to keep the master cylinder topped up and just let the fluid run out of the bleeder by itself without pumping the pedal. Do you ever have to add fluid to the master cylinder? And make sure you remove the rubber boot from under the master cylinder cap when you fill it.

would his inside the bell housing adj the hydraulic "slave" cylinder? Which can only be seen by removing the dust cover.

Thanks for the welcome!
I'm going out to lay under it right now and check for the bleeder screw. I have not had to add any fluid. The level has stayed the same in the master cylinder.
Nope. No bleeder screw. Its a one piece plastic line from the bell housing to the master cylinder. I dont see anyway at all to bleed it. Maybe any air is suppose to work its way up to the master cylinder and bleed off on its own? I notice the cap on the master cylinder has holes to vent to atmosphere. Dont see how it could work with the rubber boot though.
