Hello .
My name is Jarek, from Poland and i am owner of 1986 f-150 with 302 ci engine.
I have problem with my alternator (60 amp i hope) . I need to put new regulator and rectifier but i do not know witch one will fit. Regulator i found and hope it will work (FORD CG131907, ARE9003, F784) but rictifier i do not know - GY-1360 or GY-1351 . anyone will help?
I would recommend starting with the Voltage Regulator (VR) first, it could be that the brushes are just worn. If you remove the 4 corner screws, you can remove it and check the brushes. There is a hole in which you insert a stiff wire, which will hold the brushes back for installation. You can change the brushes and reuse the VR.
Check to see if you have 3 wires on the VR plug. If you do end up changing out the VR you will need a new plug with all three wires, if you currently have only 2 wires like the one shown in the photo in post 1. The new VR will require all 3 inputs.
The Alternator Rectifier Bridge is very hard to change out as there are 3 heavy gauge copper wires that are soldered on the 3 attach posts. If you have to replace this it doesn't matter which copper wire goes where as all 3 of the inputs are all the same.
