1989 e150 wheels: Please help identify these wheels

Hi All,

been searching to upgrade and replace my rims (edit) on my sweet old camper van. I really like the wheels on the pics I’ve posted, but can’t seem to locate them (model/MFG/brand) online. Any help would be much appreciated....!

thanks.

Discount Tires lists these as an exclusive. So may or may not be available somewhere else.
Can not tell if they come in an E-10 (10 ply) model though.
So you will definately need to talk to them.

I am also sure that several other recommendations for A/T tires can be made as well.
I have. Two other types I would revommend by personal experience, but since I know nothing about these tires they may be worth looking into.

Hope this helps.

Top wheel looks aftermarket, bottom looks like a stock f series wheel, they had them in 5 bolt for sure, don't recall seeing them in 8 bolt.

Hmmm..those looks close..but different. The ones I'm looking for don't have so much of a dish to them... almost are flush with the side wall of the tire, which is the look I'm going for.

Thanks for the suggestion though

That will create tire rub problems and limit your steering range.

He would need offset spacers to run them, which in turn will create a whole new set of problems.

Agreed there! If you've ever seen the kids with dinky sedans running huge wheels/tires that far, far exceed the car's design broke down on the side of the road with a wheel terribly out of place you'll get the idea.

Factory spec'd whieel/tire sizes may not be ideal to the eye but you don't add issues that are more problem than then anything.

ahh, that’s makes sense! Thanks guys. I definitely don’t want to add any new problems.

What do do you think about getting a larger diameter rim? The stock size is 15”. How about bumping up to 16”?

Whats the linit in backspacing and offset? When I go to Tire rack and search for my van, I get a number of options. Is it best to stick with the stock size? I see many vans these days with larger rims...

16" is definitely an option and you could go up to 8" in width, stock rims on a 1/2 ton van is likely 7", check the decal on the driver door pillar the factory tire and ewheel sizes are usually listed. Factory wheel offset is 0 which means backspacing is exactly 1/2 of rim width, if you go wider you want to retain the same backspacing as close as possible so for example an 8" wheel would need to have a negative 1/2" offset to get the same 3.5" backspacing.

Total tire height is also a concern, a 1/2 ton sits lower than the HD versions so you can't go too big before things start to touch, use an online tire size comparison tool to figure out what size tire you can run. I suspect you might get away with a 31" tire at most. https://tiresize.com/comparison/

thanks all!

i understand about I’ll fitting rims. I don’t want to reduce my steering/control at all. I really do like those rims, but I guess per the advice here I’ll find something else.

Whats the best place to find rims online? I’ve searched Tire Rack, Wheel Pros...but is there somewhere not mainstream that has more selection?

thanks!

The first wheels look like American Racing AR172 Baja wheels (second pic). Edit- they may be American Racing Mojave wheels as shown in my first pic.
