There was a thread last week about them. Scroll back a few pages. I like the owl cam too just haven't been able to pull the trigger. BTBRV has a nice video on it.
Tons of options. You could spend anywhere from $50 to $500 plus. I went with the blackvue DR900S 2-channel. The install is very straight-forward. Hardest part was pulling the rear cabling. Other things to think about is a voltage monitor / timers and a good set of trim tools.
If you go the blackvue route, don't mess with 3rd party mounts. The giant optics enclosure, behind the rear view mirror, takes up a ton of real-estate. Mounting directly on the glass was the only way I could get a full picture.
Thanks all, most of the ones I have looked at don't have some of the surveillance and notification features that seem unique to OwlCam, but also are a lot less. Has anyone invested in the OwlCam and if so is it worth it? At a minimum looking to have video for piece of mind with all the distracted drivers on the roads these days
Seems to work well, can be inverted, loops, shuts off gracefully when powered off etc. I connected mine to the accessory power circuit, so any time "ignition" is on, the camera is recording. Amazon also has some wire-direct USB power supplies which can be discreetly wired in to make a very pro looking install.
the higher end blackvue and thinkwares have the same options as the owl cam. a lot of these "higher end" cameras make you pay for a subscription service for more features. I bought a blackvue 750. give a call to blackboxmycar.com, very helpful and can answer all your questions, sell multiple dash cams from all price ranges.

Good luck!
Did you use their power magic pro to hardwire? If so, where did you run for power? I was considering the owl cam but after looking at these, I'm like these better because of the dual camera.

I wanted to have a bit more control over my dash cam. I wanted to have full control over when and how the cam powered on and off. Probably a bit over-engineered, but why engineer something when you can over-engineer it right?
So here's what I used:
For power management I went with the Vicovation Power Plus for power management. It allows you to set a voltage, temp and timer for cut-off of the power to the dashcam.
Wired the 12v sense to upfitter 6 (set for always hot).
Wired the 12v power to the 12v in the upfitter bundle
Everything was wired up / run to the passenger footwell
If I had to wire it again, I'd probably skip the upfitter / pass-through bundle. These wires are stupid short. I'd recommend pulling power from the fuse panel in the passenger footwell.

I wasn’t too impressed with the Power Magic Pro, though it’s probably better than nothing. The PMP requires an always on, switched, and ground connection. This time around I installed a Cell Link Neo battery under the passenger seat. It only requires a switched and ground connection. I Used fuse 5, a 20 amp micro fuse for rear seat heating. I have left the truck parked up to four days so far with no issue. I reduced the sensitivity to motion in parking mode which seems to significantly decrease power draw by the camera.
