Grrrrrrrr

When i turn the key for the wait to start i hear a sound after a few seconds that goes grrrrrrrrrr for just a second. never heard it in my 99.5. any ideas?

Sounds like the fuel pump. It runs for a few seconds when you turn on the key to pump up the pressure.

Where is the sound coming from? You are sitting on the fuel pump. It is mounted to the frame rail under the driver seat.

I at first thought that was it but it sounds like it is coming from up front. I will get under it and have the wife turn the key.

May be the vacuum pump.

Is that vacuum pump located under the hood, on the passenger-side inner fender? I get a buzzing sound from that area when I turn my key on also.........

Should it buzz all the time, or stop after the truck starts? Does the buzzing and vibration indicate a problem?

I heard the grrrrr on mine this morning. I turned on the ignition and while I was waiting for the glow plugs I heard a quick grrrrr. I don't have a clue?

Mine keeps on GRRRR-ing, at least until I crank the engine (not sure about after that). Is there something wrong with it???

i noticed that the grrr is at the exact moment the trans guage goes to the half way mark
