Under The Hood Wiring 66 f350

As I’ve been working on the fuel issues I’ve noticed the wiring is in very poor shape. I’m talking frayed, exposed, cuts, and multiple repairs and extensions.. Does anyone make a complete engine bay wiring harness that covers everything under the hood?

Might check "Painless Wiring". They likely have a complete kit.

Painless, Ron Francis etc. are not plug n play and for most people are very intimidating. The NPD and some others simply replace the stock harness with the correct connectors, Plug n Play.

Yeah, I think Painless replaces all the wiring in one kit including the fuse box. Can also do switches (though not OEM) if wanted. NPD has partial harnesses/kits.

Christmas is right, stick with NPD, Mac's, Dennis Carpenter, Carolina Classics etc. Their harnesses will be exact replicas of the originals. All the harnesses for wiring outside the cab are available and not super expensive. You might want to get a copy of the wiring diagram manual although there have been plenty of them posted online. Although some of the wiring diagrams I have seen posted are not correct.

Thanks guys. I certainly like the idea of plug and play. Is there a manual I can purchase? I was looking over the truck again this morning and found the wiring nightmare isn’t just in the engine bay. I have wires hanging all over in the dash as well. I also noticed while working on the fuel lines lastnight I saw a tee that my brake lines go into. The tee had some type of switch screwed into it and it had two red wires coming out of it. One was cut. I am wondering what it does.

I'd have to do a little research to know for sure if this is good for your F350, fairly sure it is. But here's one harness that goes from the firewall to the engine that they list for the 1965-66 F100/250 with 352.

Aren't there actually two harnesses? One for the engine and another for the lights, etc.? Anyhow I purchased an under dash harness for my 64 F350 from obsolete and classic auto in OKC. The harness is made by Bauer. I haven't installed it just yet but it matches several used harnesses I have perfectly and the molded connectors mate up nicely. Pretty happy so far.

Dennis Carpenter is just one source. They just changed their web site some - not sure I like it yet, but it is easy to search on numbers at least.

This is the firewall to headlamp harness. C5TZ-14290-G

https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/en/...t-harness-1965

For F350 it is a C5TZ-14290-F so different, but this might be workable.

That tee/switch in the brake line is probably for a brake warning light somewhere on the dash.

There are three harnesses under hood, gauge feed, headlight and alternator. Here is a link to MAC's electrical I didn't try to separate them you will recognize them when you see them. https://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_t...rness&x=12&y=8

You will just have to use F100/250 stuff since I don't believe there is any real difference between them and a 350.

Thanks for the tips. I ordered this earlier. Is this the only source and is it useful?

Thats your original brake light switch.
Look around your pedal, it may have been converted to a switch pedal also.
I converted mine over.
