Hey yall, Im trying to set my truck to the specs set by ford for optimum performance. A while back I got a link to a site that had scanned copies of ford specs from a mod on this site. Anyways, i am in south louisiana with the stock motorcraft (well i say stock, but i purchased a rebuilt one) and the settings are as follows:
Curb Idle-750 RPM
Timing- 14* BTDC
Choke- 3 Rich, (I dont know what the heck that means but i got it to where i hit the gas pedal to the floor and let it up slowly then crank in the morning and it engages the choke and fast idle cam)
Are these settings sounding right to ya'll? The truck is running pretty well and im getting what i calculate to be 14 mpg w/ ac and 16.5 w/o ac on. I dont want to do anything that will be detrimental to the engine.
1978 Ford F150 351M with c-6 auto tranny and 2.75 diff.
If the 78 is the same as mine, mine states that it is supposed to be set to 8* BTDC with a Curb idle of 600 or 650 RPM. That is according to Chiltons. (Not sure how accurate those settings are, but the other stuff I get from the CD works out great).
