I have a platform in the bed of my 2019 Super Duty used to carry snowmobiles. It has running lights on the edges since it is wider than the bed.
When i I connect to the trailer socket to draw running light power, the truck thinks I have a trailer. But it also senses that I have no functional turn signals since those leads are not connected.
I keep getting dashboard messages about this condition every five minutes or so when I brake.
How can I correct this problem or draw power from another source?
There’s a big cream colored connector on the inside of the passenger side frame rail right next to the spare. That’s where my lighted headache rack ties in to avoid all the trailer errors. Tapping in anywhere along that bundle should work as long as you find the right wire.
I use a Curt #57003 7-pin to 7-pin Trailer LED lamp adapter between our truck and the slide in camper, as it has no stop/turn lights. The adapter houses resistors to “fool” the trailer circuits’ current-sensing feature.
Thank you. The Curt #57004 seems to be exactly what I need since I have a 4-pin connector in the platform harness.
I was not aware that these adapters were available to trick the smart sensing software. I guess I have a “dumb” adapter and that’s why I’ve had this issue.
