Rod, that coffee sounds like the Boy Scout camp coffee we made a camp ! And it was usually great unless the Scout that had the duty that morning forget to do the cold water part on the grounds...then....a mouthful of grounds !! YUCK!
Sailor, that's mighty chilly up there. Was 59 when I got up an hour ago...up to 60 now....sun's gotta get a little higher, then getting to only 77 today. Headed out to the lake east of town today for views and lunch. Ummm, should I take my suit? Naw, don't wanna scare the clientele......

Good Morning Bud and thanks for today addition of vehicle ****. If you don't cold water it will give you a mouth full of grounds. Give it a minute or so to let them settle. Also letting the grounds sit in the water makes it go rancid fast. We always strained them out and coffee into another pot.

Good morning MerryLand-O-Bud, Roy and all stopping by and may everyone have a blessed Sunday with friends, family, fun, plenty of good food!
Roy I buy some local roasted and yes canned store bought.
Silverbridge Coffee is local and I have them roast a blind for me sometimes.
I also purchase in raw beans and roast my own to my liking.
I also make true Cowboy coffee from time to time.

- Add water to your pot and bring it to a boil.
- Once the water’s boiling, remove the pot from your fire and let it sit for 30 seconds. This will lower the water temperature to 200°F — the perfect temperature for brewing coffee.
- Add 2 tablespoons of finely ground coffee for every 8 ounces of water.
- Stir the grounds into the water.
- Let the brew sit for 2 minutes and stir again.
- Let the coffee sit for 2 more minutes.
- After a total of 4 minutes of brewing, sprinkle a little cold water on the grounds. Yes, this actually does help them settle to the bottom.
- Slowly pour the coffee, so the grounds remain on the bottom of the pot.
- NOTE: According to My Grandmother, strain the entire finished pot throught cheese cloth into another pot and set near the fire to keep warm until consumed!

Good Monday Morning Bud-Landi-A! Morning Ken and Roy I still like and use my regular coffee pot. Not much on flavored coffee and I can not see paying the price of the cups.
I haven't made Cowboy coffee for some time. Made it most when backpacking/camping and would make it on some searches that ran long!
