Snow plowing
I am looking for 2 late 80's or early 90's Broncos for plow work. What auto transmissions did they put benind a 5.0 or 5.8 and which one is best for reliability?

Broncos got the C6 three speed auto, the AOD four speed which had a version or two as I recall. The last was the E4OD. Avoid the E4OD like its the plague. Both of the other auto's have pretty strong service records. For plowing, I'd be looking for the C6 myself.

You definately want the 351 and a C6 for pushing a plow around. The AOD is weaker than the E4OD, but both have generally bad reliability recrods. C6's are built like tanks. Even when they do go, it's about $250 for a rebuild vs. $1500 or more for an AOD or E4OD rebuild.
Of course, even better would be a manual...
