Headlight Bulb Recommendation

Hi all,
I have a burnt out headlight bulb on my '95 F-150 Super Cab 5.0 Auto 4x4. I have already installed a relay kit from Bronco Graveyard to run the headlights directly from the battery, and I previously wet sanded and clear coated the headlights. But I am wondering what you all are recommending these days for bulbs? I prefer a white light to blue. I am not interested in anything LED. There seems to be many options....what and why do you use what you use?
Thanks.

I run sylvania silverstar in my truck. I have the headlight relay kit also. Works for me.

I run Sylvania Silverstar Ultras. They work fine. Nothing glorious.

I will recommend either the Vosla +100 or the Philips Extreme Vision. Both are far superior to the other bulbs on the market and are stupid bright. They are also road legal.

There is a Vosla +130 that is even brighter but it has a shortened life span to give you all of that ridiculous bright light on the roadway. My +130's lasted about 14 months before they burned out.

I've always used Sylvania silverstar ultra. A bit more pricey but they last a long time and are brighter than most other brands.

The original lights on these trucks are great. New reflectors (housings) will get you more than new bulbs.

Lights are a form of insanity lately. Everyone wants superbright lights and all they do is blind everyone else. Today, too much light is more of a problem than not enough light.

I agree,I changed out the housing assembly, did the relay upgrade and used good quality halogens as i do a lot of early morning driving (well before the chickens are up) and the lights on these trucks are not bad compared to some vehicles I have driven.

The best I know of is Phillips Xtreme Vision. Stay with clear glass and stock wattage. Silverstar and similar blue coated bulbs are a gimmick. Sylvania Xtravision is probably the best you will find at a store. Heard Vosla are good too.

If you need new lens assemblies Ford or TYC are the only good ones.

Herein lies the problem; the major local parts stores only carry the Sylvania bulbs for some reason (Autozone. O'Reilly's that I know of) and they seem unable or unwilling to order something decent. I buy my Philips Xtreme Vision bulbs on Amazon and the Vosla +100 come from Headlight Services Advance Auto Parts have the Philips Xtreme Vision bulbs, though.

Both bulbs I recommend and have used myself are legal bulbs and won't blind oncoming traffic. The caveat is, are you running the crystal clear housings with no glare shield inside. The shield is to keep excess glare out of the oncoming driver's eyes. I know the crystal lenses do not have this so any lamp will blind oncoming drivers.

I find it hard to even worry about my headlights when I have to drive with my left hand in front of my face to keep from being blinded by 92% of the vehicles on the road today. When the sun does down...I stay home. Never thought I see the day.

Don't get me started with all the circle jerk Jeep YJ owners out there. Most all new ones have replaced the lights with LED's and absolutely blinds you because they have at least 2 sets of LED "driving lights" on along with the headlights 24/7.

I have to agree. I wish there was a way to beam that blinding light right back at those jeep owners!

And the lights on cars and trucks now are entirely to bright.

Agreed. The standard lights on my '97 F350 are more than adequate for my purposes. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who is annoyed by oncoming super bright lights. I'll admit, part of it is my age-related light sensitivity. I also suspect that part of the "oncoming light problem" stems from the installation of "leveling kits" which raise only the front...(or lift kits, in general) without a corresponding lowering of the headlights' projection. After I "leveled" my F350 by installing 2" F250 blocks in the rear, I would occasionally get a warning flash from an oncoming vehicle...ergo, I adjusted my lights...hasn't happened since.

Pep Boys actually carries Philips but for a nominal price. That's the only store I have seen that stocks them. I'm not sure why all the others carry the same Sylvania stuff. They could dare to be different but I guess that requires a bit more effort.
