Abe, I hate to be insubordinate, but your link did not come through. I guess sometimes the leader turns out to be a schlub just like all the other struggling commission types in our organization like Tom and myself--It's just that when you are the leader, you get paid more (and more often).
...So Dan, I just learned from looking at some of your old threads that your truck is Meadow Green and beautiful. That being the case, you really do need to consider coming to Abe's Pennsylvania Truckstock event in September. I'm pretty sure Abe is offering special (unadvertised) incentives to owners of MG trucks. If you tell him I sent you, you may be eligible for even more rewards.
Just so you know, Tom (pineconeford) is coming from Maine. He will probably be driving right by your house, and he'd be more than happy to lead the way right to Abe's event. Tom and I both work for Abe on a commission. If you do decide to come, it would help us feed our families. LOL.
Jim
PS. Tom is staying in a yurt, I'm camping in a tent, and there is also a fancy lodge. Cabins are yet another option. There are some old threads back a few pages that give registration details.
If I were more competent, I could post a link. Limited skills are what is holding me back from getting a regular salary--Abe is tough and will only offer commission work for someone like me.
I've been following the threads about Truckstock for several years and have often thought about attending. It would fun to meet everyone, especially Tom who has been very helpful in answering some of my questions about the 226 engine we both have. I was hoping to have the truck on the road last fall but I still have a few things to wrap up. And once I start driving it around I'm sure there will be a lot of things that need adjusting. I'll keep Truckstock in mind and see how things go. And, I'll be sure to mention your name if I sign up so you'll get your commission.

Sounds good Dan. It would be great to see you and your Meadow Green truck! And it would be cool to have your Green truck travelling with Tom's Green truck!
And thanks for mentioning Jim's name. The winner of the contest between Jim and Tom gets an extra serving of Pinto Plumbers teaberry ice cream.
Abe, I'm sorry. I should have known. I should never have called you a schlub. I was broken down and over 70, but you believed in me--and gave me a job when no one else would. Who am I (just a schlub on a commission) to question wether you can post links or not. You are our leader, and of course you know how to post links.
Dan, I've only been to one Truckstock event so far, but it was a great adventure that I will always remember. I "restored" my truck with the intention of driving it, and an annual Truckstock adventure is as good an excuse as any for spending time behind the wheel. I'm looking forward to attending as many Truckstock events as I can (in my declining years). Hopefully they will become like the Birkie for me--just something a little out of the ordinary that I do every year.
Maybe you are now where I was at this time in 2017. I thought I had plenty of time, but actually ended up getting my truck back on the road just in the nick of time. I only had a few days to get the bugs worked out of my truck before it was time to leave on the 1400 mile round trip to the 2017 Kentucky Truckstock. Little things (and some bigger ones) were going wrong right up to the time of departure. I had a little trouble (as you may expect) but nothing that couldn't be overcome. I met some great people--even in Illinois of all places--that were a great help along the way. (I wish I could post the links chronicling my exploits, but of course I can't).
I hope you get your truck squared away and are able to join us in Pennsylvania next September. Abe and his friends will make you feel welcome, and I feel sure you will be glad you came.
Jim
PS. Oh, and thanks for mentioning my name to Abe. I'll tell my wife she can go grocery shopping again. It's been awhile, and the kids have been wondering. LOL.
Jim, my parents lived outside of Chicago and had a summer place in northern Wisconsin where we used to go in the summer. I got curious about where you live and it turns out Deerbrook isn't that far from their place outside of Crivitz in Athelstane, Wi. It's actually where I found my Model "A". Haven't been out that way in a number of years but we used to enjoy our summer visits and from your post it looks like a winter visit would be fun too. Dan
Hi Dan. Crivitz is in my general neighborhood. My brother has a place in Lakewood, which is even closer. It's a winter wonderland here! Just this morning before church it was -15F with 42 inches of snow on the ground. In the summer, we have lots of lakes and leaves.
Here is a recent shot of the road in front of my house. It's barely wide enough for one car to pass. My driveway comes in just off to the right, and it's even narrower:
Hopefully we'll see you and your truck in Pennsylvania next fall. We can reminisce about the old days in the Wisconsin Northwoods.
Your photo looks like the roads in NH this past week. We're back in CT now and the grass is showing. Supposed to have 4-6" of snow tonight which will be the most this winter.

My canoes wondering if Spring will ever come
I'm pretty sure the Crivits area this winter looks pretty much like what you see in these pictures. If I were to choose another state to live in, NH would be high on my list. I've only seen CT through a tour bus window on the way to New York City, so I don't have too much of an opinion on the pros and cons of CT--I do believe there was a lot of traffic, however.
I grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, and love winter:

Great pictures, Jim. I'm jealous of all that snow. I bought a new pair of skis in December but didn't get a chance to use them until we were in NH last week. You're right about CT being a bit more congested than northern WI but we're happy here and it's a quick trip north to VT or NH. Here's a shot of my wife and friends in the woods last week and one of the Mt. Washington Hotel and the west side of the mountain. Jackson, where we were last week, is on the east side.
Nice pictures, Dan. The one of Mt. Washington brought back memories. My wife and I went to the top of Mt. Washington on the cog railway. It was a great experience. My son, the Birkie skier, hiked to the top with some friends. You are fortunate to live close to such a spectacular attraction.
At his truckstock event, Abe is hoping to take us up to a spectacular overlook in the Pennsylvania Mountains for a group picture with our trucks. Who knows, he may even do something special up there with just the meadow green trucks. There may be four or five of them, and you wouldn't want to miss out.
Still very much like winter here -17F this morning.
Abe, our amount of snow this season is unusual. That's why I've been out taking pictures. In December and January, we had below average snowfall and finding good snow for skiing involved traveling a little further north. February, however, brought record snowfall in our area, and I've been enjoying it. It's been cold too. We've had some -30F temps, and we don't see temps this low every winter.
I've never been a believer in man-made global warming, and the winter we are having this year just goes to show what mother nature is still capable of dishing out. Dire predictions that winter snowfall for most areas of our country will soon be a thing of the past, just don't seem to be coming to true (thankfully).
Abe, I forgot to mention--we don't really get lake effect snow in this area. We are not close enough to Lake Superior. Interestingly though, we had quite a bit more snow than Hayward did the week-end of the Birkie. Hayward does get lake effect snow--at least until Lake Superior freezes over. It's warmer this morning--only -7F.

No Lake effect snow? really? Sometimes we get it in Central PA but not a lot. We will sometimes see on radar a long strand of snow blowing south eastward from Lake Erie, but it is nothing like Buffalo or Erie, PA gets of course.
Only -7... do you have any frozen pipes when it gets that low or lower?
